Gregory L. Hammel was born (December 19, 1951) and was raised in Owatonna, Minnesota. He is married and has three adult children. He received his Bachelor's Degreee in Music Composition in 1977 from the Unversity of Missouri at Kansas City and his Juris Doctorate in 1980 from the University of Kansas School of Law.
Mr. Hammel practiced criminal law for approximately a decade (1980-1990) representing either the State or criminal defendants in jury trials involving homicide, vehicular homicide, sexual assaults, drug offenses, robbery, theft etc. He first practiced law in Lawrence, Kansas as an Assistant District Attorney. Upon relocating to Florida in 1983 he practiced as an Assistant State Attorney in Sarasota, Florida, thereafter practicing as an Assistant Public Defender in both Manatee and Brevard Counties. In 1989 Mr. Hammel opened a private solo law practice in Melbourne, Florida which he has maintained since 1989 primarily in the areas of estate planning, probate, wills and trusts.
